Northland forecast

Jul 07, 2026 06:18AM ● By Content Editor
From the National Weather Service in Duluth - July 7, 2026

Along a stationary front where the primary concern is expected to be heavy rain and possible flash flooding, some isolated severe storms capable of producing damaging wind and large hail are possible. Timing for any severe storms will likely be late tonight into early Wednesday morning.

Multiple rounds of showers and storms are expected late tonight through Wednesday across parts of the region. Rainfall totals of 1–3 inches are likely, with local amounts of 4–6+ inches possible under the heaviest bands. The most likely place for the heaviest rain is from the Brainerd Lakes to the I-35 corridor and into NW WI. However, confidence on this placement is medium and future shifts are possible.

We are monitoring an increasing potential for flash flooding from late Tuesday through Wednesday. Multiple rounds of heavy rain showers and storms are expected along a stalled front, bringing 1-3"+ of rainfall with localized totals of 4-7"+ possible. The highest risk currently sits within the yellow-shaded "Slight Risk" areas on the maps. Because the exact positioning of the stalled front remains uncertain, the highest risk area may shift north or south. Keep an eye on the forecast over the next couple of days.
