What some of our users say about boreal.org.

David Hahn, Hovland Resident:

"I have been using Boreal every day since moving to Hovland from Minneapolis in 2001.  The daily weather predictions, including school closings are helpful especially on winter mornings for a foster grandparent.  The School Board meeting coverage is also very informative.  Boreal has kept Cook County residents in touch with e-mail messages of citizen needs such as lost pets, rides and sale items.  Thanks Boreal for a job well done."

Steve Harsin, Former Director, Grand Marais Public Library:

"What I especially like about Boreal is the community calendar, where I can go and at a glance see what is going on around Cook County. That makes it really easy to keep up!"

Beth Kennedy, Community Volunteer

"The best most important thing about Boreal is that it has connected the community through the years that it has been in existence! You can put meetings and events on Boreal for free! Or weather warnings! Ads in newspapers are not timely and they are expensive! So boreal is especially great for nonprofits!  You can find a lost item by posting or you can get a ride! It is a great communication tool!"

Rose Prissel, Retired, Cook County Visitor

"I like Boreal for the news, pictures, and variety of stories.  It brings back happy memories of when I am up there.  I also like to look at the weather to see how it differs from where I live."

Ann Sullivan, Cook County Commissioner

"I am so happy with the recent changes at boreal.org! Although change can be difficult, I have enjoyed not only the new "look" but the ease of posting events and activities for organizations which I belong to.  The way the classified ads are organized makes sense to me, and I can always find the news or grab a quick link to WTIP, which I often use.  Thanks for making this site more user friendly and available to so many who live and play here in Cook County!"

Hartley Newell-Acero, M.A., Community Health Specialist, Sawtooth Mountain Clinic

"Boreal has been indispensable in my efforts to get information from Sawtooth Mountain Clinic out to residents of the Arrowhead region. Their staff posts our articles in an attractive, easy-to-read format that makes it simple for users to find out what they need to know. Boreal helps make connections happen!"

Doug Sanders, Grand Marais

"About 1990 I began using Boreal.org when Mary and I moved from Grand Rapids, Michigan to our new home in Grand Marais.  Not yet retired and with a staffed actuarial consulting firm back in Michigan (Sanders and Associates, Inc.) I was able to predominantly work in Grand Marais.  Using Boreal.org, I sent and received  prolific emails, and documents from Grand Rapids staff and clients throughout the country. I traveled once a month to either Grand Rapids or to clients.  Boreal.org was my brand and still is.

In Grand Marais, I met a woman who used Boreal.org for her livelihood by auditing Medicare claims throughout Minnesota.  Also met a man whose family was able to live in Grand Marais by performming image programming for Mayo Clinic physicians and with the communication help of Boreal.org."

My clients were chiefly insurance companies, employer associations, hospitals, and even the AFL-CIO.  Also I provided gratis actuarial services to native American tribes including Grand Portage and an association of over140 tribes.
