The Grand Marais Public Library will host author and folklorist Chad Lewis for a special presentation, “Minnesota Lumberjacks: Legends and Lore,” on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 5:30 to 6:30p.m. From Paul Bunyan to the Hodag, this entertaining and informative program explores the traditions, superstitions, folklore, and larger-than-life stories that grew out of Minnesota’s logging camps and Northwoods history. Audiences will hear tales of mysterious creatures lurking in the forests, boasts of super natural feats, and every yarn told in-between. His presentations combine history, humor, and storytelling to bring forgotten tales and local lore to life. This free public program is open to all ages.

For over three decades Lewis has traveled the back roads of the world in search of the strange and unusual. From tracking Vampires in Transylvania and searching for the elusive monster of Loch Ness to trailing the dangerous Tata Duende through remote villages of Belize and searching for ghosts in Ireland's castles, Lewis has scoured the earth in search of the paranormal.

The Grand Marais Public Library increases knowledge, inspires creativity, removes barriers, and builds community across Cook County.
