Hey neighbors! Help women celebrate the shared love of outdoor winter and cross-country skiing by joining Cook County women and girls on Monday, February 16 from 1-4 p.m. for the annual women’s cross-country ski social on Pincushion Mountain Trails.
This year women will glide to the theme of “Women’s Neighborly Ski,” sponsored by the women of Pincushion Ski & Run Club, who also provide delectable treats in the chalet--or outdoors around a fire if conditions permit. The event is free, though donations are welcome.

The “neighborly ski” theme honors the community of women in Cook County committed to reaching out to engage women of all ages, abilities and backgrounds in enjoying the area’s Nordic ski culture.
Recent activities sponsored by the women members of the Pincushion Ski & Run Club include a women’s skate-ski workshop, and a women’s classic Nordic ski techniques workshop. Both were offered for all levels. Led by skilled mentors guiding various levels, workshops helped participants grow in skiing skills and camaraderie.
Artist and entrepreneur Gina Joyce, proprietor of Roam & Whimsy gift shop and Timber & Tide Cabins, attended her first-ever classic ski workshop in January. “I especially appreciated being able to learn how to cross-country ski in a comfortable, encouraging setting among the amazing women in our community,” she said.
And she’s not alone. Dozens of women are reveling in the last days of snow by skiing together. Join them Monday —and bring your neighbors!
