Thanks to the hard work of the ice-making team, the Cook County Community Center ice rinks and warming house will be open for skating starting Saturday, December 20th!  The ice makers have prepared two rinks – the upper, smaller rink in front of the warming house, and the large hockey rink– for your outdoor skating pleasure. Both are located on the Community Center campus at 317 W 5th St, Grand Marais.

The schedule for the warming house for the coming week will be:

  • Saturday, December 20th, open 11 am-7 pm
  • Sunday, December 21st, open 11 am-7 pm
  • Tuesday, December 23rd, open 11 am-7 pm
  • Friday, December 26th, open 11 am-7 pm

Starting Saturday, December 27th, the warming house will be open and staffed daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The warming house offers skate rentals for $2 per pair, with both hockey and figure skates available in youth and adult sizes. Season skate rental passes can be purchased for $20, allowing you to rent skates an unlimited number of times during the season. Skate sharpening services are available for $5 per pair. The warming house also serves concessions, including snacks and hot beverages.

The programming schedule and rink reservations are available at cookcountymn.gov/skatingIf you have questions or if you would like to make rink reservations, call Anna Klobuchar at 218-387-3015 or email [email protected].

The warming house closes if the temperature or wind chill is –20 degrees or colder, or if an active snowstorm occurs during normal rink hours.
