Cook County, MN, is pleased to announce that Grace Grinager has been selected as the new Public Health and Human Services Director. She was unanimously selected by the interview team, which included members of our Cook County Board, the PHHS Advisory Board Chairs, a representative from the Grand Portage Tribe, PHHS consultants, the Interim PHHS Director, a HR representative, and the County Administrator.

"It's been an honor to serve as the Public Health Supervisor for the past seven years.  Our department is fortunate to have a committed, talented staff.  I'm looking forward to working with each and every one of them to provide a high level of service to the community, leaning into our mission and values as a department," Grinager said.

Grace has been a key leader within PHHS and brings a rare combination of kindness, clarity, and unwavering competence to this vital role. Her direct approach and deep commitment to community well-being make her an exceptional leader, and we are confident she will guide our department with integrity, compassion, and strength.

Grace will be transitioning into her role as Director on January 5, 2026. Plamen Dimitrov will continue as Interim Director until January 5th and will assist Grace in transitioning into her new role.
