Cook County YMCA celebrates tens of thousands in gym upgrades with ribbon-cutting ceremony

Cook County Community YMCA staff and community members, with the help of the Cook County Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday to celebrate tens of thousands of dollars in recent upgrades to the facility’s spaces.
New features include upgrades to the gym scoreboards, ventilation system, and new lighting, thanks to fundraising efforts by Charles "Chico" Hathaway, the county, and the Booster Club (a non-profit that served as a collection point for tax-deductible donations). Additionally, the YMCA purchased new cardio equipment, including two different types of exercise bikes, a Peloton and a Recumbent. Other improvements were made to help maintain and modernize the community hub.
More upgrades are planned for the future to keep improving and innovating the Cook County YMCA.
