Strong winds cause high waves, downed trees, and power outages throughout Cook County and Grand Portage for the second week in a row

For the second week in a row, November's gales have made an appearance, bringing downed trees and power outages.
The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a wind advisory for 25-30 mph east winds with gusts up to 50 mph until noon on Tuesday, November 19. Winds are expected to decrease slightly as the afternoon goes on, with 20-30 mph gusts.
A gale warning is also in effect until 9 p.m. this evening from Grand Marais to Silver Bay. Waves 6-15 feet are possible.
The winds have caused power outages and tree damage throughout the county. According to Arrowhead Cooperative, crews are working in Maple Hill and Colvill. To report outages, please call 218-663-7239.
