Jes Rodne is gearing up for her 10th and final season as Volunteer Coordinator of Operation Family Christmas. The program has been successful in helping 1000’s of children in the community during hardships through the Christmas holidays and it has brought so much joy to her heart, but Rodne says it is time for the next chapter in her life.

“I am very passionate about this program and the positive effects it has had for so many families in need.” says Rodne. “It has been such an honor to be the Coordinator of a program that provides some peace of mind for parents and so much joy for kids that may not have had anything Christmas morning. However, my youngest son is a Senior this year and after finally finding the perfect fit for the next Coordinator, it is time to pass on the program.” This year Rodne will still be the active coordinator, however she will be working with the Cook County Council on Aging to show them how the program works so that the title of Coordinator can be transferred to them successfully for the 2025 Christmas season.

“Without a doubt, the Hub is the perfect entity for the continued success of Operation Family Christmas and I am grateful they want to take over next year and look forward to working with Cook County Council on Aging’s incredible board this year, along with Chris Bautch (Activities and Programs director), who I know is just as passionate about the program as I am.”

Rodne would like to thank the many, many people in this community (near and far) for their donation of gifts, the volunteers that are always available when called upon and the non-profits and businesses that have made food cards available- which in itself she says is a tremendous blessing. Rodne adds “I have seen first hand this program bring parents and families to tears with a very deep gratitude and I am humbled to be a part of that process.”
