On October 10, 2024, MN DNR and USFS fire crews officially contained the Bogus Lake Fire. Initially reported on October 8, the fire grew from 10 acres to 53 acres, burning on brush and hardwood litter. Fire crews utilized several suppression and containment methods, such as constructing a fireline out of hand tools and plumbing the perimeter with hoses.

Bogus Lake is located approximately 13 miles NE of Grand Marais.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
