Rescheduled Gunflint Mail Run has been cancelled for 2024

On Monday, January 29, the Gunflint Mail Run Board of Directors issued a statement saying the previously rescheduled 2024 race was cancelled. The race was scheduled to take place on February 10 at Trail Center up the Gunflint Trail.
The statement read that the cancellation came from a lack of snow already on the ground, above average temps predicted for the next 8-14 days, and no measurable snow in the forecast. "We felt we had no choice but to cancel the race out of consideration for the care and safety of the teams," they said.
A 2025 race date has not yet been selected.
This news comes after the cancellation of the Beargrease Dogsled Run in January, also due to unseasonably warm temperatures and lack of snow.
