After a back-and-forth with a Ramsey County judge, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz spoke on Feeding Our Future’s fraud allegations.

The Walz administration was under fire last week after a judge took issue with the way Walz characterized its ruling to continue to pay Feeding Our Future.

Walz said he respects the decision, though he disagrees with it. He brought up issues such as when MDE learned of the fraud and why it took so long to stop paying the organization.

The governor says that he welcomes an audit from the Office of the Legislative Auditor that will determine if the Minnesota Department of Education had proper controls and oversight in place before the fraud was discovered.

That investigation is expected to take months to complete.
