Karla and I went camping by a little lake close to McGregor, Minnesota. It is the lake that I grew up on when our family farmed. As a kid we fished many days for sunfish, crappies and bass. This week we fished with one of my brothers and caught our share of crappies and bass. Karla of course caught the most. It was enjoyable to see all the wildlife on this undeveloped lake. It is still owned by only four active or retired farm families.

We saw four loons and one of the four was the strangest loon I have ever seen. It was stained orange. Your mind could come up with many theories why this was. From brackish water to fire retardant but some chemical discolored its feathers. It looked healthy and spent the day fishing with the rest of us.
