From the National Weather Service in Duluth - July 12, 2026

Pockets of Critical Fire Weather conditions are expected today along and north of the Iron Range where a Red Flag Warning is in effect. Even more widespread conditions are forecast Monday when a Fire Weather Watch is in effect..

Dangerous heat and very muggy conditions are will occur through Tuesday. A cool front moves north to south Tuesday and slowly improves conditions first in far northern Minnesota.

Most of the Northland is expected to be dry on Sunday (90% chance). However, there is a very conditional threat (10% chance) for a couple strong to severe storms in the Arrowhead to portions of northwest Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon and evening. If storms can develop, they would be capable of large hail up to ping pong ball size (1.5 inches in diameter) and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph.
