CO Sean Williams (Ely 1) reports: much of the remaining snow is now gone in the Ely area after a string of days in the 70s followed by heavy rain. Ice condition have deteriorated along with the snow and is now extremely dangerous. Time was spent checking anglers along the north shore fishing tributaries, no angling success was found over the weekend.

CO Brent Ihnen (Ely 2) spent his week patrolling his station for fishing activity. Officer Ihnen also checked ATV operators. Additional time was spent monitoring spring trapping activity.

CO Thomas Wahlstrom (Grand Marais) checked trapping activity and worked ATV complaint areas. The officer worked on equipment maintenance. Trapping complaints were also followed up on.
CO Hudson Ledeen (Hovland) spent the week patrolling for angling and trapping activities. Calls regarding nuisance animals were handled. Seasonal equipment maintenance was taken care of. Enforcement action was take for OHM violations.

CO Megan Franzen (Silver Bay) spent the week primarily monitoring stream angling activity around the area. Warm weather has melted much of the ice that had been keeping the rivers locked, and anglers have been reporting varied success. Warm temperatures in the upcoming forecast should hopefully raise river temperatures as well as angling success.

CO Trent Anderson (Tofte) focused on angling and trapping enforcement for the week. Variable weather conditions continue to delay the spring thaw. Public outreach events were attended and wildlife and trapping related calls were handled. Equipment maintenance was conducted.

CO Cassie Block (Two Harbors) Spent time this week checking anglers on area streams and Lake Superior. Time was also spent patrolling the area for trapping activity. Block also spent time training with K9 Jet.
