According to the NWS, the snowfall is expected to begin Monday evening and continue through Tuesday evening. The heaviest snowfall is expected on Tuesday morning. In some areas, specifically southern Cook County, snow could fall at a rate of over 1 inch per hour during the Tuesday morning peak.
In total, the North Shore is expected to see snowfall of 6 to 8 inches, with the heaviest amounts in higher terrain. Meanwhile, areas under the Winter Weather Advisory are forecast to receive between 4 and 6 inches of snow.
The NWS also noted that the snow should be less dense and less heavy than the snow that fell during the historic blizzard last week.
