Winter Storm Watch for Cook County

November 24, 2025, update: Heavy snow forecasted for Cook County, Grand Portage, and northern Minnesota during Thanksgiving travel period, winter storm watch issued

AREAS AFFECTED : NORTH ST. LOUIS; NORTHERN COOK/NORTHERN LAKE; CENTRAL ST. LOUIS; SOUTHERN LAKE/NORTH SHORE; SOUTHERN COOK/NORTH SHORE; CARLTON/SOUTH ST. LOUIS


* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. 

* WHERE...Carlton, St. Louis, Cook and Lake Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Grand Portage Reservation, the Fond du Lac Band and the Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake and, Lake Vermilion areas. Other locations including Voyageurs National Park. The entire Boundary Waters is also included. 

* WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening.  

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A corridor of locally higher snowfall amounts are possible somewhere in the watch area. Blustery winds gusting up to 35 mph may result in areas of blowing and drifting snow.
