Timber Wagon is bringing fresh, made-to-order food to Grand Marais — now in the Buck’s Hardware parking lot. Owner, Andrew Duhaime, worked with Steve and Charity of Buck’s Hardware to secure the space for a limited run under a special 10-day permit. Before expanding to Grand Marais, Andrew and the Timber Wagon had been operating at the Grand Portage Trading Post throughout the summer.

Because the current trailer doesn’t meet Minnesota’s year-round mobile food unit requirements, Timber Wagon can operate just 10 days this season — spread over the next six weeks. Service kicks off this weekend on Saturday and Sunday (September 20–21) and will continue through mid-October (with the exception of October 4–5).

The menu will remain the same as it did at the Timber Wagon’s Grand Portage location, featuring fresh ingredients prepared on the spot — from hand-cut jalapeños and mushrooms to fresh Canadian-baked bread delivered multiple times a week. “It might take a little longer than fast food, but you can taste the difference,” Andrew said.

In addition to serving great food to the community, Timber Wagon is offering a local high school student an opportunity to learn and earn hours by working weekends. Looking ahead, Andrew hopes to purchase a fully certified food trailer with support from Northspan’s small business loan program, making it possible to operate more frequently next year.

Andrew shared, “I wanted to say thanks to the community because so many people have helped me to even get this far.”
