Hot conditions returning

From the National Weather Service in Duluth - June 7, 2026

Hot and humid conditions are forecast for the region this week. Afternoon temperatures are likely to reach the upper 80s to around 90 away from Lake Superior today, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with slightly cooler conditions expected on Monday. High dew points in the 60s and low 70s will yield sticky conditions by mid-week, pushing Wednesday's heat indices between 90°F and 105°F for some areas.

Areas of dense fog continue across much of western Lake Superior into the Twin Ports this morning. In addition, strong northeast winds of 20-25 kt and wave heights of 2-4 ft develop this afternoon and evening, leading to hazardous conditions for small craft and a high risk of rip currents for Twin Ports beaches.

Hot, dry weather and breezy southeast winds today will lead to near-critical fire weather conditions in far northern Minnesota where the lowest relative humidity are expected this afternoon and evening. These conditions could lead to the rapid spread of fire if one starts.
