From the Cook County Highway Department - September 3, 2025

Here is an update from the Cook County Highway Department regarding the Gunflint Trail Mill the Hill Project as of September 3, 2025:

Starting September 8, additional traffic changes will begin to occur on the Gunflint Trail.

Crews will begin culvert replacements and roadway widening which will require partial lane closures at multiple areas along the Trail between 5th Avenue and Devil Track Road.

On September 10 and 11 Redstone Construction will set the new bridge beams over the Little Devil Track River.

On each of the two days, traffic on the Gunflint Trail will be fully stopped in both directions three times each day. Each traffic stop will last for 10 to 15 minutes.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area on September 10 and 11, if possible, by utilizing County Road 60 and County Road 58 or County Road 6 and County Road 7.
