Join award-winning novelist Brian Malloy for a hands-on creative writing workshop at the Grand Marais Public Library. This engaging session will focus on Point of View—a key element of storytelling. Open to writers at all levels, the workshop is designed for anyone looking to refine their craft, whether you're just starting out, honing a manuscript, or preparing for publication. Grab a notebook and pencil and head to the library on Wednesday, September 10, from 6–8 PM.

Brian Malloy is the author of The Year of Ice, Brendan Wolf, After Francesco, and Twelve Long Months. His novels have received critical acclaim, including selections as a New York Times Notable Book and an Oprah Daily pick. Malloy's nonfiction has appeared in Minnesota Monthly, OUT, and the Lambda Award-winning anthology The Man I Might Become. He has earned numerous honors, including the Minnesota Book Award, the American Library Association’s Alex Award, and grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

“We are receiving such great feedback about Brian Malloy’s workshops,” said Library Director Amanda St. John. “Participants are loving his expertise as a writer and appreciating getting help unlocking their stories in new and compelling ways.”

Point of View is part of a larger workshop series made possible by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, through a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. No registration is required for these free, ongoing events. Upcoming topics include personal essay, novel structures, and novel subplots.
