Here is an update from the Cook County Highway Department regarding the Gunflint Trail Mill the Hill Project as of August 18, 2025:

In early September, Redstone Construction will set the new bridge beams over the Little Devil Track River. This operation will be completed over the course of two days.

On each of the two days, traffic on the Gunflint Trail will be stopped three times each day. Each traffic stop will last for 10 to 15 minutes.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area on these days, if possible, by utilizing County Road 60 and County Road 58 or County Road 6 and County Road 7.

As the final beam setting date is scheduled, more specific information on days and times will be announced.
