From the Grand Marais Playhouse - July 15, 2025

The summer repertory will kick off on July 17 with “The Spitfire Grill,” by James Valcq and Fred Alley based on the movie of the same name. The Spitfire Grill is a heartwarming and inspirational musical tale of redemption, perseverance and family. The cast for this production includes Emma Tweten-King, Elunia Steckleberg, Karen Blackburn, Bre Tweten-King, Jonathan Hedstrom, Isreal Moreno and Ben Fitzgerald-Wells. Directed by Sue Hennessy with Karina Roth as Music Director. A live band will accompany this musical.

The Foolish Fishgirls and the Pearl is the hilarious comedy that will open July 18. The play by Barbara Pease Weber tells the tale of two former deep sea divas, Coral and Oceana, who didn’t exactly have the “happily ever after” storybook lives the erstwhile mermaids envisioned. This feisty fairy tale explores a mermaid’s life on dry land after true love is found, lost, and found again. The cast includes Alexys Hillman, Brittany Lilienthal, Michelle Lewis, Kevin Kager, Signy Sherman, Jeffrey Shockley and Sandra (Lou) Leonard. Directed by Sue Hennessy.

The Summer repertory rotates the two shows over four weekends, Thursday - Sunday July 17- August 10. More show information and specific showtimes can be found at grandmaraisplayhouse.com or look for our posters around the area!
