Strong Northeast winds blew through the night and into Tuesday. One of my favorite spots to do wave watching is at Crystal Bay in Tettegouche State Park.

Winds in Duluth were clocked at 62 mph and the waves were up to nine feet tall. Not a day to be out fishing.

When powerful waves collide with the rhyolite cliffs at Crystal Bay the water explodes sending spray fifty feet into the air.

I hiked over to the overlook where you can see the mouth of the Baptism River and Cart-in Campground. Some of the biggest waves that I saw that day occurred while I was at that overlook. Lake Superior can put on quite the show.
