From the Superior National Forest - May 23, 2025

The Superior National Forest will temporarily close two sections of National Forest System roads for public and contractor safety while construction projects occur this summer and fall. Delays can be expected, please plan for extra travel time.
  • Forest Road (FR) 146-East Bearskin Road will have a deteriorated culvert replaced where it crosses the waterway between Aspen Lake and East Bearskin Lake. Construction for the culvert replacement is scheduled to begin this August, with a full closure of the East Bearskin Road between September 15–October 15, 2025.

  • Forest Roads 313, 309 and 1388, Shoe Lake Road, Greenwood Lake Road, and the Greenwood Lake boat access will have road repairs including resurfacing, road base improvements, culvert replacement, and ditch work. Construction is anticipated to start early August 2025 and continue through summer 2026. Public can expect intermittent closures for Shoe Lake and Greenwood Lake roads during culvert replacement.
