From Care Partners of Cook County - March 6, 2025

Our community is AWESOME! We are so grateful for the many ways our neighbors support our mission to support older adults in Cook County!

A big THANK YOU to Cook County Whole Foods Co-op for selecting Care Partners as the recipient of their Round-Up program in March!!!!! During the month of March, when you check out at the co-op you can ask that your purchase amount be rounded up – and Care Partners will receive the difference. Through this program, the Co-op and their customers have donated over $80,000 to area non-profits. What a wonderful example of neighbors helping neighbors!

...And ANOTHER big THANK YOU to Cook County potters who are holding their Annual Seconds Sale at the Hub on Saturday, March 15 at The Hub from 10am to 2pm. Choose from a selection of beautiful but not-quite-perfect pottery (and more) and name your price! All proceeds benefit Care Partners! Don’t miss it!!!!!!

Care Partners has settled into our new home!
After lots of work by lots of WONDERFUL people, we are finally in our new digs at 615 East Highway 61 in Grand Marais (the Amax Plumbing & Heating building.) We are incredibly grateful for the many talented tradespeople and dedicated volunteers who have transformed our space into an efficient and welcoming office, and those who generously gave of their time and energy to haul our stuff…twice! We are grateful also for funding assistance from the Cook County/Grand Marais EDA and the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation to help offset some of the costs involved with this project. See our website for photos of the process and for a list of the many, many lovely people who helped us get here.

Our mailing address continues to be PO Box 282, Grand Marais, MN 55604 and our office hours are still 10am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.

Lunch & Learn: Advocating for Yourself & Others in the Health Care System
Wednesday, April 23 | noon-1pm | CCHE or Zoom

The health care industry seems to be more complex by the day - which makes it increasingly important AND challenging to communicate our medical care needs and preferences, not to mention coordinate appointments, tests, and procedures among a multitude of providers. Dr. Jenny Delfs from Sawtooth Mountain Clinic will help us think through these issues and introduce some ideas to help us get the most from our health care visits, partner well with our providers, and effectively advocate for ourselves and others. As always, a light lunch will be provided for those who attend in person.  Register online for April Lunch & Learn here.

You are cordially invited to attend
Care Partners Tenth Anniversary Celebration & Open House
Tuesday, May 20 | 4:00-6:00pm | 615 East Highway 61, Grand Marais
Details coming soon!

Winter (and Spring) Weather is Here (Yay!!!!)
Just a reminder that in inclement winter or spring weather, Care Partners' physical office may be closed while staff work from home. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology we are able to answer phones during office hours (10am to 3pm, Monday through Friday) no matter where we are, so feel free to give us a call. However, if you are planning to stop by the office and the weather is iffy, you may want to phone first to make sure someone will be there to greet you! Thanks so much for helping us keep one another safe as we enjoy life in our beautiful (but sometimes challenging) corner of the world!

Volunteers are the heart of Care Partners!
