The North Shore Music Association is proud to present Tuvergen Band, a Chicago-based folk-fusion trio, at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts (51 W. 5th St, Grand Marais, MN 55604) on March 8. The show begins at 7:00 PM, with the box office opening at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students, available at northshoremusicassociation.com.
Tuvergen Band delivers a one-of-a-kind musical experience they call “modern nomadic music,” blending Mongolian and Tuvan folk traditions with elements of bluegrass, blues, and rock. Their sound bridges cultures and generations, offering audiences a dynamic and immersive performance.
The trio features two masterful musicians from Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia: Tamir and Naizal, both virtuosos on the morin khuur (horse-head fiddle), a two-stringed, cello-like instrument. Tamir is also internationally recognized for his Mongolian and Tuvan khoomii (throat singing), a mesmerizing and ancient vocal tradition. Percussionist Roman completes the group’s distinctive sound with a custom hybrid drum kit featuring 20 global percussion instruments and didgeridoo.
Tuvergen Band’s repertoire showcases reimagined Mongolian and Tuvan folk songs, inspired by themes of horse culture, nature, and life on the steppes. Their unique fusion of traditional and contemporary elements creates an electrifying and unforgettable concert experience.
Don’t miss this extraordinary night of music! Join us March 8 at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts and experience Tuvergen Band’s remarkable artistry live on stage.
