Winter Storm Warning issued for southern Lake and Cook Counties beginning Saturday, February 1

Around 1:30 pm, on Friday, the National Weather Service in Duluth (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning for southern Lake and Cook Counties, beginning on Saturday, February 1 at 10 am through 6 am on Sunday. The northern portion of Lake and Cook Counties are not under any watches, warnings, or advisories at this time.
According to the issued watch, snow accumulations between 5" and 8" are expected for locations along the north shore. Up to 10" is possible in certain areas, specifically from Silver Bay to Lutsen. Snow is expected to begin Saturday morning, with heavy snow, (up to 1/2" per hour), beginning in the afternoon and into the evening. The NWS also forecasts gusty winds up to 35 mph, which could lead to reduced visibility and hazardous road conditions.
