The North Shore Music Association (NSMA) is thrilled to announce two exceptional events this February that promise to bring world-class artistry and unique cultural experiences to Cook County.
Fire in the Village
Friday, February 7, 2025
Cook County Community Center – 4H Log Building | 317 W. 5th St. Grand Marais, MN
NSMA is proud to partner with WTIP North Shore Community Radio to present Fire in the Village, a captivating evening of music, art, and connection. The event features celebrated Anishinaabe singer/songwriter and activist Annie Humphrey, joined by Sean Carey (Bon Iver) and Jeremy Ylvisaker (The Suburbs).
Event Schedule:
- 6:00–7:00 PM: Social hour with refreshments and a printmaking activity
- 7:00 PM: Upcycled fashion show
- 7:30 PM: Music featuring Annie Humphrey and her band
Fire in the Village is a collective of artists and cultural organizers from Anishinaabe territory in northern Minnesota. Through music, poetry, storytelling, and visual arts, they aim to foster connection, creativity, and healing, rooted in the belief that each of us carries a sacred story (aadizookaan).
Tickets $15 student/$20 general admission for Fire in the Village are available at northshoremusicassociation.com.
This special event aligns beautifully with Cook County's Hygge Festival, celebrating warmth, connection, and creativity in the heart of winter.

NSMA is delighted to host BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, the two-time GRAMMY-winning Cajun band that has been captivating audiences for over 50 years.
Blending New Orleans jazz, blues, Zydeco, and more, BeauSoleil is known for its spellbinding fiddle, soulful vocals, and infectious energy. The band has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to international festivals, earning 12 GRAMMY nominations and critical acclaim.
