Had a nice visitor this week. A beautiful Boreal Owl. I considered it a birthday present as it showed up early in the morning a day before my birthday. It was looking for mice under our bird feeder. It was so early in the morning that I had to use the tripod. I took the photo at 1/10 of a second. I put this post by the feeder two years ago hoping that an owl would land on it. After two years one finally did.

Boreal owls are only about eight inches tall and seldom seen. Many birders are in search of them for their life list. I think I have only seen four in my life. 

It didn’t stick around though as no one has seen it since.
