District 6 - Two Harbors area
Last updated: 2024-12-02CO Sean Williams (Ely 1) reports: more snow fell over the week and into the weekend and the first sign of both snowmobilers and ice fisherman were seen. Few muzzleloader hunters were noted although the ones checked seemed hopeful with the addition of the new snow and colder temperatures.
CO Brent Ihnen (Ely 2) continued checking deer and small game hunters this week. He also patrolled for ATV and trapping activity.
CO Anthony Bermel (Babbitt) reports spending time on equipment maintenance and seasonal exchange of equipment. A deer possession permit was issued. With the weather change, the transition to winter activities is underway.
CO Hudson Ledeen (Hovland) reports a blustery week of weather brough in cooler temps and some snow. Small ponds and lakes have frozen over while the bigger lakes remain open. Grouse hunting and trapping activities were monitored.
CO Trent Anderson (Tofte) monitored area ice conditions and trapping activity. Area ice remains thin and extremely variable. Cold weather and blowing wind limited outdoor activity for the week. Equipment maintenance was conducted in preparation for the winter season.
CO Don Murray (Two Harbors) worked trapping activity and followed up on a wetland complaint. Most area lakes have now frozen over, but ice is far from safe for any travel at this time. Anglers are advised to check ice depths frequently before venturing out on newly formed ice.
Silver Bay vacant.
