The “Gales of November” arrived on Lake Superior this last week. Winds were clocked at 61 mph in Duluth. This created huge waves along parts of the North Shore. I drove down to Crystal Bay in Tettegouche State Park. It was a great day for wave watching. Although a little wet.

Twenty to thirty waves of the same size appear and then you will get a series of three larger ones. Commercial fishermen call the bigger waves during a storm “The Three Sisters”. The last wave of “The Three Sisters” is always the most impressive.
