Welcome to the 2024 Boreal Community Media virtual non-profit highlight! In the past, Boreal Community Media hosted an event called Dessert to the Max to celebrate and recognize local non-profits and their incredible work for the community. The event typically coincided with the Minnesota-based celebration Give to the Max, hosted by GiveMN, an annual celebration and “giving holiday” to all non-profits across the state. 

This year, instead of an in-person celebration, Boreal is virtually honoring and highlighting these organizations on Boreal.org.

To raise money to provide food for people in need in Cook County, Minnesota. 

Upcoming events

We have a Lunch, Supper, and Bake Sale event to raise money in November. This is a fun event that brings the community together to enjoy a night out but also brings awareness that there are people in Cook County facing food insecurity.

Thursday, November 14th, at Up Yonder
Empty Bowls Soup Lunch 11-1 pm
Supper 5-7 pm
Free soup or Mac and cheese for kids, bread included!

A fun fact about Empty Bowls

We take applications from nonprofits who fill the gap in the systems we have. These nonprofits are face to face with the people who need food. They hear about the story of what has happened in people’s lives that is not covered by Public Health or other government services.
