From Boreal Community Media - November 9, 2024

Welcome to the 2024 Boreal Community Media virtual non-profit highlight! In the past, Boreal Community Media hosted an event called Dessert to the Max to celebrate and recognize local non-profits and their incredible work for the community. The event typically coincided with the Minnesota-based celebration Give to the Max, hosted by GiveMN, an annual celebration and “giving holiday” to all non-profits across the state.

This year, instead of an in-person celebration, Boreal is virtually honoring and highlighting these organizations on Boreal.org

The non-profit organization we’re highlighting today is:

Organization Name

Care Partners of Cook County

Mission/Work

Care Partners of Cook County provides vital support and services on the beautiful and challenging journey of aging and end-of-life with safety, dignity, and confidence.

Upcoming events

Light Up a Life is Care Partners annual remembrance gathering and fundraiser held at Johnson Heritage Post.  Each donation for this event helps light up the Christmas tree in front of the post - gather with us for a meaningful remembrance of your loved ones on Thursday, December 12, 5:30pm. Look for the form in your November & December Northern Wild or on our website.

Join us for our Reframe Aging Book Group! Kicking off in December! This group is open and will be held on the first Thursday of every month at CCHE, 4:30 - 6pm.  Identify and challenge misconceptions about growing older, and foster a perspective on aging that includes both challenge and promise. First book: Breaking the Age Code: How Your Beliefs About Aging Determine How long and Well You Live by Becca Levy. Yale professor Dr. Becca Levy, a leading expert on the psychology of successful aging, draws on her own ground-breaking research to show how age beliefs can impact all aspects of the aging process (even how genes operate!) – and how a positive view on aging may extend life expectancy by up to 7.5 years! All are welcome – join in as your schedule and interest allow! Register for our first meeting on our website!

A fun fact about Care Partners of Cook County

We are moving! Care Partners began as our own 501(c)3 in 2015 and after more than 10 years of development and partnership, we are moving from the Lower Level of the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic at the end of this year.  Stay tuned for more information coming soon!
