The North Shore Music Association kicks off November with Chamber Music Up North! The concert offers a unique combination of Scandinavian folk and classical contemporary music, performed by Third Coast Chamber Collective and guests Erin Aldridge, Irina Mueller, Paul Dahlin, and Ensemble REPRISE. The exciting repertoire combines traditional Swedish fiddle music and Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish folk music arranged for a classical string quartet. The aim of the event is to bring North Shore communities together to celebrate Nordic roots, traditions, and rich cultural heritage.

About the guest performers: Erin Aldridge is a highly sought-after performer who has been broadcast on National Public Radio, the BBC, Minnesota Public Radio, and Wisconsin Public Radio. Irina Mueller’s solo recitals have taken her throughout the United States and Germany; as an orchestral musician, she has toured Europe and Japan. Paul Dahlin has been teaching and sharing music for over 40 years at the American Swedish Institute and in Sweden. REPRISE is the next generation of musicians in Minnesota who play traditional Swedish folk melodies in the style of Paul Dahlin's grandfather, Edwin Johnson. Johnson brought the music of his homeland to the U.S. in 1924.

Third Coast Chamber Collective (TCCC) is currently based in rural Northern Minnesota. TCCC is a chamber music ensemble focused on improving community access to the arts and arts education, and on striving to provide the best, most inspiring and transformative music experience to their audiences. TCCC's programs include outreach and collaborative projects, commissions, youth and adult music camps, and an annual chamber music festival that brings internationally acclaimed artists and innovative programming to communities across Northern Minnesota.

The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. on November 9 at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts (51 W 5th Street, Grand Marais). Tickets are $20 for general admission, available in advance at northshoremusicassociation.com and at the door starting at 6:00 p.m.

This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. This event is also generously supported by UW–Madison's Division of the Arts.
