How long have you been working at Great Expectations School?
Short answer 6 weeks. Longer answer… I’ve enjoyed subbing in the past and interning with both Pete James and Rachael Lehman while achieving my principal license, so I feel like I’ve been connected to the school for much longer. I currently teach 3rd and 4th grade/ Wolves North.
What is the best part of your work day?
The kids! My background is in middle and high school where you see a group of students for one class period and then you see a whole new group of students for the next class period. What a wonderful thing it is to see the same students all day long and to enjoy building relationships and feel that investment and dedication towards their success and growth. Together we are conquering learning curves, celebrating achievements and building trust in each other. I have the most wonderful group of kids this year and feel truly blessed to spend my days with them.
What are some hobbies that you enjoy when you are not busy working?
I’m dedicated to food and movement. I love my gardens and animals. I’m a complete foodie who loves fresh quality food and ingredients and sharing this with my family. I also love movement. Hiking, swimming, and teaching fitness classes at the Y really fill my cup. Of course with the winter months coming in, I am looking forward to curling up by the fireplace with a good book.
Any family or pet details that you wish to share?
My home is practically a menagerie. We have 5 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 26 chickens, 3 ducks, and bee hives and 2 varieties of composting worms. Unfortunately, my husband does not want the mini highland cattle I dream of.
