Last month, the Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe) version of Star Wars: A New Hope debuted at Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but beginning last Friday, lucky viewers in the United States were able to watch the film in theaters.

The movie stars
Aandeg Jedi Muldrew as Luke Skywalker, Ajuawak Kapashesit as Han Solo, Theresa Eischen as Princess Leia, Dennis Daminos Chartrand as Darth Vader, and Dustin Gerald Morrow Aagimewikamig as Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was directed by Ellyn Stern Epcar and produced by Michael Kohn. According to a press release from Indigenous Broadcaster ANTP, the language dubbing took place over a 10-day period, and is the result of a partnership between the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council (DOTC), the University of Manitoba (UM), Disney/Lucasfilm, and APTN.

The Ojibwe dubbed version is playing at some
Marcus Cinemas across North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, including in Duluth, Minnesota.

Eventually,
Star Wars (Anangong Miigaading) will be released on Disney+.
