Come learn more about Larry "Fish" Deschampe, one of the amazing staff members at Oshki Ogimaag Community School!

What is your role/title at Oshki Ogimaag Community School?

Transportation Director

How long have you been working at Oshki Ogimaag Community School?

Since the founding of Oshki Ogimaag nearly 16 years ago, and I've been driving school buses for over 43 years.

What do you look forward to most when coming to work each day?

Picking up the students, it's the joy of my day!

Did you always know you wanted to work in education?

I found this role unexpectedly and loved it!

Anything about your family/special interests you would like to share?

I love being home with my family, I  enjoy spending time with my two daughters, I love spending time with my grandson and granddaughter. I love relaxing at home with our black cat, Spooky.

Where is your favorite place to go in Cook County for a day of fun and relaxation?

Fishing on the Pigeon River.

What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

That my real name is Larry and not Fish! When I was about 10 years old I was fishing and there was a group of three adult men fishing nearby me. The men caught nothing and I caught three big fish, ever since then people have been calling me Fish and it has stuck! If you ask for Larry, no one will know who you are looking for, if you ask for Fish-everyone will know it's me! Fishing is a favorite pastime to this day!
