National Weather Service issues Gale Warning for Cook County and Grand Portage

From the National Weather Service - May 1, 2023
The National Weather Service has issued a Gale Warning for the North Shore until Tuesday, May 2nd at 11 am central time, for Grand Portage to Taconite Harbor, including Grand Marais.
According to the Warning, east winds can be expected to reach 15 - 25 kt, increasing to gusts of 40 knots. Waves are expected to be between 3 - 6 feet.
Impacts include strong winds and hazardous waves, which can capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
The NWS recommends that mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.
