Cook County I.S.D. 166 P.K.-12 Principal Megan Myers announced her resignation effective June 30, 2023, at the Thursday, January 19 school board meeting. Myers began working at I.S.D. 166 in September 2018, replacing P.K.-12 Principal Dr. William (Bill) DeWitt, who resigned August 16, 2018.

When asked why she was leaving, Meyers responded, “My plans are to look for an administrative position around the areas where my family resides, Park Rapids, New York Mills, and Wadena. I have always prioritized family and at this point my family needs us to be closer to them. I love my position here at Cook County Schools and will continue until June 30. My intent for resigning at this time is to ensure the time it takes to find a replacement and set them up with a sound foundation.”

Megan grew up in Park Rapids, Minnesota and taught at New York Mills for 17 years. She mostly taught as a classroom teacher in the 4-6 grades and spent three years teaching 7-8th-grade math. She also coached volleyball for seven years.

After teaching Megan went back to school to get her administration degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

With her new credentials, she was hired to be the K-12 principal for the Circle of Life Academy School in White Earth, Minnesota. Circle of Life is a Bureau of Indian Education Grant school, she said, adding she was principal for 2 ½ years before coming to Cook County.

Megan and her husband Bryan have three children, Emmalli, Benelli, and Molly.
