Members of Minnesota's Urban Search and Rescue team, also known as Task Force 1, recently put their specialized skills to practice. Using the U.S. Bank Stadium's catwalk and beam system, members were able to rig up and dangle through the air to simulate would-be rope rescues.
Emergencies are never planned, which is why Task Force 1 regularly trains on heavy structure collapses, trench collapses, rope rescues, searches and damage assessments. Many of these technical situations require a unique skill set. The training at U.S. Bank Stadium provided an opportune space for members to gain a deeper understanding of their rope rescue knowledge.
Task Force 1 is part of the Minnesota State Emergency Response Teams, which are managed by the State Fire Marshal.
