Drivers who fueled up at the Holiday gas station in Hibbing off of Highway 169 have been sounding off about problems with their vehicles. Holiday confirmed that there was a problem with water contamination in an underground fuel storage tank following a recent fuel delivery.
When WDIO stopped by on Monday, the 87 unleaded buttons were covered up with stickers that said, "Out of Order," but you could purchase the next higher grade at the same price.
Holiday's full statement reads:
"At Holiday we guarantee and stand by the quality of our fuels, and we take any complaints seriously. We are aware of the car troubles some drivers have experienced after fueling up at our store on 13th Avenue East in Hibbing and believe they may have resulted from water contamination in an underground fuel storage tank following a recent fuel delivery.
We apologize to any customers who were affected, and we are helping them with their claims while working to address what caused the issue. We ask that any customers who experienced car problems after purchasing fuel at this location this past week to contact our Customer Service department at (800) 745-7411 or email [email protected]."
The state of Minnesota's Commerce Department said that Weights and Measures has an inspector on site. Whenever they receive complaints, they follow up promptly.
