Being landlocked, Minnesota is not exactly known for its beaches. You won’t find any tropical lagoons or oceanside vistas here. But because of our state’s more than 10,000 lakes, we do have more than a few beautiful beaches. Some of the most spectacular are along Lake Superior, including the incredible beach we’d like to introduce today. If you’ve ever wanted to visit a black sand beach, rest assured that you don’t even have to leave the Midwest. Black Beach on Minnesota’s North Shore is unlike anything else in the state. When you visit, you’ll soon see why it’s an adventure unlike any other. Read on below to learn more about this unique Minnesota beach.
The wide beach is easily visited by hiking up a short trail from the parking lot. The beach is not wheelchair accessible, so be sure to plan accordingly when you visit.

Even in the winter, when the beach is covered in snow, it is beautiful. The black sand contrasts with the white snow to create an almost otherworldly sight. You'll want to visit this place every season!
