Construction on Hwy 61 in Grand Marais is now substantially complete. Remaining handrails will be installed as soon as their fabrication is complete. Additionally, the contractor will be responsible for maintaining trees and shrubs for the next two years.

This two-year project reconstructed and resurfaced Hwy 61 through Grand Marais, improved accessibility, and replaced box culverts. MnDOT appreciates the public’s patience with detours and lane closures during construction.
