Chamber asks members to nominate businesses for Annual Business awards

At the 2021 Visit Cook County/Cook County Chamber Fall Gala, scheduled for Oct. 30 in Grand Portage,  we will announce recipients of our annual Chamber business awards. We need your help in choosing the recipients of these awards. Please nominate those you think most deserving.

You can nominate by copying, filling out and pasting the relevant portion of the form below, then sending it via email to  [email protected]

Provide all the information you think relevant. You are not limited to the space we have included.

Or you can print and mail your nominations to Cook County Chamber, P.O. Box 805, Grand Marais, MN 55604. 

Once we have developed a list of nominees, we will ask Chamber members to help us decide which of them should receive the awards. Yes, you may nominate yourself or a family member.

Please send us your nominees by Monday, Sept. 13

Entrepreneur of the Year

This award is presented to the person who has taken on significant risk and effort in the past year to launch a new enterprise or significantly expand an existing one. Previous winners include Sarah Hamilton for her Camp Chow business, Sid Backlund for his regional, frozen Sven & Ole’s pizza marketing effort, Kim and Chuck Corliss for developing the new North Shore Winery in Lutsen, Bruce Block for his work to transform the former Gopher Cabins into Village North, a development of affordable living spaces, and last year's winner, Christina Conroy for her Bad Seed eatery, now a food truck in Grand Marais, and Rebel Girls Community Minded Catering.

NOMINEE for 2019 ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR:

WHY THIS NOMINEE DESERVES TO BE RECOGNIZED AS ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR:

Business of the Year

This award goes to a business, not an individual, that has made large contributions over time to the prosperity and comfort of the Cook County community. Previous recipients include Hedstrom Lumber Company, G&G Septic, Johnson Foods, North Shore Waste,  Java Moose and Grand Marais State Bank.

NOMINEE FOR 2019 BUSINESS OF THE YEAR:

WHY THIS BUSINESS DESERVES TO BE RECOGNIZED AS 2017 BUSINESS OF THE YEAR:

Community Business Leader of the Year

This award goes to the business leader who has made noteworthy contributions to the community by sitting on boards, serving as a volunteer and generally supporting efforts that make Cook County the great community it is. Please note: This award is for work OUTSIDE of a person's day job. It's for their voluntary efforts to aid our community. Previous recipients include Howard Hedstrom, Norman Deschampe, Sue and Bruce Kerfoot, Beth Kennedy, Jan Sivertson, Nancy Burns and Scott Harrison, and Dennis Rysdahl.
