Last week, we were overjoyed that Grandma’s Marathon returned to Duluth after being canceled in 2020. Seeing the runners was a welcoming sight to see! This weekend, we are excited to see the return of the Lutsen 99er. Already, the North Shore has seen the return of several popular events. Now, we are pleased to announce that there are several popular events and festivals along the North Shore that are returning in 2021!

Festivals in Cook County (Grand Marais, Grand Portage, Hovland, Lutsen, Tofte, Schroeder)

According to the Visit Cook Count Events Calendar, things are really hopping up in Cook County this summer! Starting this weekend with the Lutsen 99er!

Over the 4th of July weekend, there is so much to do you could easily fill up a whole weekend just attending events and festivals! Up in Grand Portage, the Motorcycle Poker Run is happening on July 3. On your way up, check out the Hovland Art Festival being held July 3-4. Then check out the Tofte 4th of July Parade! Other 4th of July celebrations and festivals returning in 2021 include Grand Marais and possibly Grand Portage (2021 plans not confirmed at this time).

The Grand Marais Arts Festival will return July 10-11. This year, due to road construction downtown, the festival will happen at the local school located at 101 W 5th Street.

And, yes! We are pleased to announce that Fisherman’s Picnic will be returning in 2021! The incredibly popular festival will be returning to downtown Grand Marais from August 5-8! Some traditional events over the weekend may be limited or canceled, however. Stay tuned as the schedule has yet to be announced. One thing we know for certain, the fishburgers WILL be back!

We do announce, sadly, that the 2021 Grand Portage Rendezvous Days and Pow-Wow has been canceled. We hope to see the return of this popular event celebrating the Anishinaabe Heritage and the historic fur trade.

There is much, much more returning in 2021 to Cook County. Be sure to check out the Visit Cook County Events Calendar for a full list of events.

Festivals in Duluth

Down in Duluth, Bayfront Festival Park is once again set to host several events throughout the summer. The popular Bayfront Blues Festival will return August 13-15. Prior to that, the Reggae & World Music Festival, Festival by the Lake, All Pints North Summer Brewfest, and City on the Hill Music Festival are all set to return in July and August!

Other popular Duluth events and festivals returning in 2021 include the Duluth Air Show happening this weekend! Spirit Valley Days will take place August 4-7. The Duluth Superior Pride will be held September 2-5. Finally, the Duluth Oktoberfest will be held the same weekend as the Northshore Inline Marathon September 17-19! Obviously, there are so many more events and activities coming back. Far too many to list!

And, while not a summer event, we are also very excited to learn that after a 3-year break the Duluth Haunted Ship will once again terrify visitors in October!
Festivals in Lake County (Two Harbors, Beaver Bay, Silver Bay, Finland)

Up in the Lake County area, several communities are welcoming back their events and festivals returning in 2021!

In Two Harbors, the popular Heritage Days will return July 8-11. That same weekend, Bay Days returns to Silvery Bay. 4th of July celebrations will also be happening in Knife River, Two Harbors, and Silver Bay.

Looking forward to 2022, we are definitely excited for the full line of events to return for St. Urho’s Day in March! It’s not a summer festival returning in 2021, but we felt it was well worth the mention!

Come On Up and Celebrate!
The North Shore is opening up and ready to celebrate! We are so excited to welcome back these fun and excited events, festivals, and celebrations in 2021!
