Cook County is blessed to having many dedicated and passionate non-profit organizations that work hard to enhance the lives of the people who live here.  This month, the Cook County Community Foundation is partnering with Boreal Community Media to salute many of its past grant recipients and how they have put those dollars to work to help make our community a better place to live.

Grant support from the Cook County Community Fund provided scholarships and enhanced opportunities for local youth to connect with craft.

Support received from the Cook County Community Fund enhanced youth programming and facilitated additional scholarships for the after-school Handworks Club and 2019 Summer Kids camp, expanding access for local youth between the ages of 7 and 16 to participate in meaningful craft learning opportunities.

This grant supported North House’s mission to “enrich lives and build community by teaching traditional northern crafts in a student-centered learning environment that inspires the hands, the heart and the mind,” as these learning opportunities empowered youth to explore their creativity while expanding their skills and confidence in a hands-on environment.

North House continues to develop accessible online programs, limited on-campus coursework, and craft learning opportunities for all ages. Visit northhouse.org for updates!
