Energy filled the classroom once again on day 2 of Technology Camp on Tuesday, August 6th.  Today students learned all about project management, Agile, and SCRUM.   They were treated like official work colleagues of the instructor Joan Bernard and her assistant, David Blackburn.  Work ethic was talked about throughout the day as well.

After lunch, the students gathered at the "board room" table and listened intently as Colvill resident Woody Gilk shared his experience of working as a remote Senior Software Engineer for RoundingWell.  He took time to answer some great questions from the students when he finished speaking about his career path.

Each day of camp has a different theme for the students.  The instructor for the camp is Joan Bernard and her assistant is David Blackburn, a Cook County High School graduate and Boreal intern who is now majoring in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  Named 2017 Minnesota Educator of the Year by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, Joan Bernard currently teaches in the Computer Networking Department at Hennepin Technical College in the Twin Cities and holds several technology professional certifications.

This opportunity was brought to Cook County students by a collaboration between Boreal Community Media, Cook County Higher Education and Cook County Schools ISD 166 Community Education.  Generous community donors came forward to help fund this camp.
