Boreal Community Media joined their friends at WTIP on Friday, July 12 to sponsor a picnic lunch during WTIP's "Radio of 2,000 Lakes" membership drive.  Boreal staff and Board members Lisa Bauer, Carol Wagner, David Blackburn, Jaye White, and Tristan Surbaugh served up brats, chips, salads, and smiles to members of the community who stopped in.

The morning thunderstorm cleared and sunny skies rolled in just in time for the picnic lunch that was served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Lisa, David, and Tristan chatted on the air with Joe Friedrichs about the upcoming Technology Boot Camp that is coming to town on August 5-9. There are still a few openings for students in grades 6-12.  To learn more, go to Cook County Higher Education's website for information (https://www.northshorecampus.org/programs.php).  Financial assistance is available to any student who would like to participate.  David and Tristan also talked about the free Boreal community tech events that are held throughout the County, where they provide on the spot technical support, free of charge, for members of the community.  This student technology internship program, which is now in its second year, was made possible by grant support from the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation.

Winners of Boreal Community Media's door prizes are Cheryl Larsen, Darla Dare, and Carol Bennett.  Congratulations, winners!
