Media Release from Cook County Department of Emergency Management - April 4, 2019

Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27, marks the 30th Annual Cook County Emergency Services Conference. This is the North Shore’s flagship training event for the Emergency Responders who  give so much of themselves to protect and serve our community year-round, 24/7. Participants come from Cook and Lake Counties, Duluth area and some from across our northern border. Anywhere from 50-80 people.

Help is needed to prep, serve and clean-up a few meals over the course of the two days. Please consider giving a couple hours of time to help out with the following meals. Would be great to have groups of County, City and Township officials and staff, schools, media, area businesses or service clubs to help out and support our hometown heroes.

Please advise if you (and/or group of colleagues) would be willing to help with any of the following. Approximately 3-5 people per meal would be great:

Cook County Community Center

- 4/26 Friday, dinner - 4:15-6:15 pm ish

-4/27 Breakfast, 6:15 am – 8:15 ish

-4/27 Lunch, 11:15 am – 1:15 ish

- 4/27 Dinner banquet, 4:30-6:30 ish. This meal will be catered by Blue Water and delivered, but buffet servers and clean-up crew are needed.

Majority of the food will be pre-prepped thanks to many sponsorships, primarily an arrangement with Upper Lakes Foods thanks to Mayor Jay, Johnson’s and . However, heating, prep and clean-up will be needed.

If you would like to volunteer, please reply to me and/or Teresa Bragg, Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Emergency Preparedness Committee Member. You are also welcome to register and attend the Conference – we have a fantastic line-up of dynamic presenters on many valuable topics that extend beyond emergency services and apply to all who serve in high-stress jobs.
